Holiday Train Show

I think this is the happiest Billy has every been.

It was at the New York Botanical Garden in The Bronx. It cost $20 for adults and $7 for little’uns and finishes next weekend. Given Billy’s obsession with choo choo’s it would have been child cruelty not to have taken him. He jumped up and down with glee every time a train passed him.

He’s insisted on wearing his Thomas the Tank Engine underpants this afternoon in celebration.

  1. Cute! So, is Billy totally obsessed with anything with wheels? A friend of mine tried to bring her boys up in a totally “nonsexist” way. She exposed them to pink as much as blue. She signed them up for ballet classes and even bought one of her boys a tutu. But it was the tractors, trailers and trucks that they couldn’t stop talking about and pointing at and the older boy didn’t care much for his tutu. Interesting. Well, I hope Penny will at least develop some sort of interest in choo choos in the coming years because this exhibit does look incredible!

  2. Alison: yes, he is completely obsessed with cars, fire trucks, garbage trucks and most of all, trains. Choo choo is one of the first things he says every morning and one of the last things he says every night. I think pretty much everything is genetically determined. Nature-95% Nurture-5% at best. Not that we give him any girly stuff to see what will happen.

Some of his female friends do have a passing interest in trains, but none of them have a passion for them as far as I know.

Mum: we tried his Thomas Fleece on him again and it isn’t as big as we thought. It is a shame he didn’t wear it there, as it wasn’t that cold.
