On My Own

Heidi went back to work today leaving me straddled with the squawking dumpling. Apart from puking on me and a bit of nappy leakage everything went surprisingly well. I don’t think he cares who looks after him as long as he gets someone’s undivided attention.

Carrie stopped by and amused him for a little while. He’s mastered laughing now, he has been smiling and laughing all day today.

Mouse and Billy still haven’t noticed one another. I think Mouse’ll start paying attention when she gets her tail pulled; Billy will do likewise when he gets his hand savaged.

After Heidi came back we pulled the fluff out of his baby booties and fashioned him this barrister’s wig. I thought it was hilarious and wanted to make him more wigs from other materials in the apartment, Heidi said ‘stop messing about we have to go shopping!’ It’s a good job one of has some sense.

Heidi’s return to the workplace meant we had to look for a babysitter. There’ll be a 2-hour gap on Tuesday and Thursday evenings when there’s nobody home. I felt like a member of the landed gentry interviewing someone for a job (whose wage I’ll be paying). Marvelous feeling. We settled on a foxy Brazilian chick with the strangely Russian name Tatiana. I’m considering doing a Jude Law for a laugh; see how Heidi reacts. Better not I suppose, I’m no Jude Law; it could backfire badly.
